Safeguards

The parts that stop an assessment flattering itself.

Guardrails are enforced in the records, not left to discipline. A pre-delivery assurance check runs the whole engagement against them before anything reaches a client.

Evidence with a confidence label

Every claim links to an evidence record with a source, an owner and a high, medium or low confidence rating. Outcomes, baselines, opportunities and risks all report their coverage, so unsupported statements are visible before a client ever sees them.

Solution-neutral discovery

Problem statements are linted for named technologies and pre-decided solutions. An opportunity cannot proceed to analysis until it reads as a business problem, and every option set must include doing nothing.

Risk as a hard gate

Risks carry inherent and residual ratings with a named control owner. A stop outcome blocks pilot creation and initiative approval outright, and the assurance check flags any approved initiative sitting behind one.

Stage gates with named decisions

Advancing a stage requires a recorded decision — proceed, proceed with conditions, or stop — attributed to a person on a date. The stage plan shows which artifacts were missing when a stage was passed.

Assumptions kept separate from facts

Anything taken on trust goes into the assumption register with an owner and a validation date. It is either promoted to a fact with evidence or marked not supported; it is never quietly absorbed into the findings.

A golden thread you can audit

Each initiative is traceable from business problem and evidence, through the risk gate, value case, pilot and roadmap commitment, to the measured outcome. Breaks in that chain are reported, not hidden.

Client visibility under control

Internal working notes and drafts stay with the consulting team. Clients see published roadmaps, reports and tasks, and can raise revision requests that consultants track to resolution.

Versioned report snapshots

Published reports capture a dated snapshot of the engagement state, so the version a board saw remains reproducible after the working records move on.

Before delivery

One assurance check across evidence, analysis, risk, decisions and delivery.

Unsupported claims, half-scored opportunities, missing do-nothing options, pilots without stop criteria, unowned roadmap commitments — each is listed with the offending record so it can be fixed rather than argued about.
